Often in nature, two or more stresses occur simultaneously or subsequently having additive effect on plant growth and productivity. An increase in the frequency in co-occurrence of these stresses is predicted to happen in the near future. Hence, better understanding of the plant response to the combination of stresses is crucial to improve crop productivity under changing climatic conditions. To this end, we are investigating the plant response to combined drought and heat stress in Arabidopsis and rice.
